Atop the Tomb of the Prophet Samuel: New Squad Commanders of the Chashmonaim Brigade Are Certified
A third cohort of Charedi combat soldiers has successfully completed the dedicated squad commanders’ course. Excited family members filled the event and expressed enormous pride in their sons, who combine operational excellence with pure fear of Heaven: “A tremendous privilege to defend the People of Israel”
At a moving ceremony held this past Wednesday at the compound of the Tomb of the Prophet Samuel, about 30 God-fearing combat soldiers of the Chashmonaim Brigade were certified as the new squad commanders of the Charedi brigade. The ceremony, which concluded long months of grueling, intensive operational training at the highest standard of the Ground Forces, stood as living and moving evidence of the brigade’s splendid growth.
The new commanders, who excelled in advanced combat training, complex night navigation and command modules, prove in practice that it is possible to reach the very top operationally without compromising a single detail of halacha and Chassidut. The brigade’s base is fully adapted to a meticulous Torah way of life, allowing the soldiers to combine fixed study sessions, prayers with a minyan, strict mehadrin kashrut without compromise and an environment that preserves the purity of a ben Torah.
Tears of Joy and Pride Among the Families
Hundreds of excited family members filled the ceremony grounds, parents, wives, brothers and children, who came in festive Shabbat dress to pay their respects to the young soldiers, support them and embrace them. The atmosphere was filled with tears of joy and with tremendous pride in these precious sons, who now carry the weight of security responsibility on their shoulders.
The most moving moment came when the command ranks were unveiled, as the proud parents wished their sons success and saw with their own eyes the unique combination of “Sifra and Saifa” realized before them in the most beautiful way.
Commanders of the Next Generation of Combat Soldiers
These commanders, who grew up in the brigade’s ranks and paved the way themselves, are the ones who will stand at the forefront of receiving the next enlistment cohorts of the Chashmonaim Brigade. The new generation of Charedi recruits will meet commanders who are excellent professionals and decorated combat soldiers, and also brothers on the path who deeply understand their spiritual world, the importance of keeping halacha and the challenges unique to them. The new squad commanders are the ones who will shape, educate and lead the soldiers of the future, through a shared language, deep understanding and personal example.
Sanctifying God’s Name in a Winning Blend of Torah and Command
At the end of the ceremony, the new commanders were sent off to their missions with a tremendous inner sense of mission and uplifted spirit. “We enlisted out of a deep understanding that defending our brothers, our own flesh and blood, is a great mitzvah, and the privilege of doing so while keeping every commandment, minor and major alike, is an enormous gift from Hashem,” one of the new commanders shared, his eyes shining. “We are going out to the field ready to lead, to command and to defend the People of Israel, with the Torah scroll and faith in the Creator as the compass that guides us at every step.”
