A Historic Milestone: The Shimon Reserve Battalion Completes Its First Battalion Exercise in the Golan Heights and Is Certified for Operational Activity

In a significant step that cements the brigade’s expansion, the Shimon Battalion (1200) last week completed a wide-scale battalion exercise in the Golan Heights, the first of its kind. With the end of the exercise, the battalion marked the completion of its official establishment and its full readiness to enter combat and the IDF’s operational missions immediately.
Tactical Readiness and Practicing Extreme Scenarios
As part of the comprehensive training in the Golan Heights, the battalion’s forces practiced especially complex combat scenarios, among them maneuver in open terrain, targeted raids and warfare in built-up areas. The combat soldiers and commanders showed a high professional standard, dedication to the mission and firm camaraderie, while practicing rapid tactical responses to changing threats.

Sifra and Saifa in the Field:
The combat soldiers completed full combat training, adapted to their way of life, at the Chashmonaim Training Base, and the battalion will later also take in graduates of the brigade’s regular track.
To enable the battalion to operate as a fully independent, organic unit, the combat soldiers completed dedicated professional courses in a range of fields: demolitions, Retek, drone operation, operational driving, medics and mortars, all without compromising a single detail of halacha.
Even at the height of the exercise’s demands, the combat soldiers were careful to hold prayers with a minyan, fixed study sessions and a meticulous way of life.

Facing North
With the battalion exercise finished and its readiness complete, the Shimon Battalion is preparing for its next step: over the coming months and through the High Holiday period, the battalion is expected to take up an operational line in the northern sector and carry out defensive and offensive missions as operationally required.
The Chashmonaim Brigade congratulates the commanders and combat soldiers of the Shimon Battalion on completing the exercise with distinction. Act and succeed!
